From the The New London Day
A Chance Encounter Shockingly Exposed

By Steven Slosberg

Published on 2/2/2006 in Region » Region Columns

To the fully clothed woman poking around for her son's shoes in the men's locker room last weekend at the Mystic Y, a rousing how do you do to you, too.

As you no doubt recall, we met, briefly, when I emerged from the locker-room sauna flush in the rosy and fleshy altogether. Lost in your hysterical, shrieking retreat through the swinging door toward the swimming pool was your name. Your purpose I sort of divined.

I've left women in various stages of shock and awe before. This was a first, though, and apparently for both of us. I have to say that in my many years of membership in what used to be the Mystic Community Center on Harry Austin Drive, then reborn as the Mystic YMCA and now, officially, the Ocean Community YMCA, but still Mystic to most, mothers have ventured into the men's lockers from time to time.

A persistent hazard, from the days the place opened in 1983, is that there are only two locker rooms –– one for each gender. That means adults and children are forced to commingle.

Usually, women stand by the open doorway off the downstairs corridor, shielded from view, but threatening their children with all manner of boiled orange vegetables for dinner unless they stop piddling around and get dressed.

The women –– it's happened twice while I've been in there before last Sunday –– then announced they were invading the sanctity of the male dominion, and in they marched, head high and hell-bent for their prodigal progeny.

The encounter the other day, however, was all about chance confrontation with unforeseen and rather steamy, literally, actualities. An array of issues abounded: the burdens and boundaries of contemporary parenting, the expectations of privacy, the protocol governing civil behavior in compromising situations, the efficacy of hand-to-groin defensive reflexes in unsuspecting and aging athletes.

A desperate housewife, but not beyond reason, the woman vanished in a vapor trail. Therefore, there wasn't a whole lot of opportunity to go deep into any of the above. In her defense, let it be known she did apparently knock first. At least, I surmised later, she had asked a father, also fully clothed and in the locker room with his son, whether she might sneak into forbidden territory for a hasty trawl for the shoes. Neither the father nor the prospecting female knew who was blissfully reading his New Yorker and soaking in his skin in the sauna.

In this Y, the sauna shares the rather modest, community-sized shower and changing space with the lockers. Three walls are dedicated, for the most part, to two tiers of lockers, and the fourth houses both lockers and the door to the sauna. There's only one way out of the dry heat, and that is into full locker-room scrutiny.

So out from the sauna I pop, all lobsterish, early last Sunday afternoon, seeking to cool down in the showers, and who should be facing me, a few feet away, but a woman. “That woman is a woman!” shouts Mr. Tilney, the Master of the Revels, in the immortal film, “Shakespeare in Love,” and, indeed, this one was one as well.

What she was doing in there, again, was not wholly out of sorts, given the relative natures of addled mothers and drifty sons. Weekends at the Y are also rife with birthday mobs, so patience, as well as door signs, can sometimes get obliterated.

But I suspect the authorities are not quite ready to embrace such models of togetherness.

Anyway, I didn't get her name, and am not entirely sure how much she got to know about me. I can only trust the experience was, once things quieted down, as revealing about adult behavior today for her as it remains for me.

This is the opinion of Steven Slosberg.

That was a great find Woodster.  There's a hell of a lot of criticism about fake, contrived stories.  Your's is a an actual news article/editorial, and far too few regulars in here are generous enough with their time to contibute these true CFNM recounts.

Brad,

Thanks for acknowledging the effort. I thought the article was interesting in that the situation of having moms going into the men’s locker room tending to their kids is fairly common in my experience. I’ve even seen mothers go into the mens’ room in public places with their boys. I wonder how much of it is accidental CFNM or maybe accidental-on-purpose.

It is a good topic for conversation. I'm sure others must have had a similar experience to this.

And what exactly is interesting about the author's account in terms of our CFNM interests?  If you weed out all the verbiage, which purports to exhibit the author's literary brilliance ("prodigal progeny"?), you find that the statement it actually makes about the woman is:  She came in looking for her kid, saw this dude naked, then turned around and left all flustered or whatever.  There is no suggestion of the woman's erotic interest, nothing saying she leered or smiled, nothing to indicate that this woman had any interest in beholding this man visually whatsoever.  So what makes it relevant to the CFNM genre?  This is not a "flame"; it is a question.  Thank you for not deleting this post.

It is a recounting of a clothed female encountering a nude male, and as such pertains to this board.

The male further recalls experiences where clothed females entered the men's locker room encountering nude males.  Since this is an occurrence that is frequently described by others on this board as "nonsense" and "false," it is a further verification that these things do happen.  The writer in a main stream publication didn't speculate as to any underlying motivations of the female, but we can.

Not everything here has to result in the female ooohing and ahhhing over the male's genitals and a solo masturbation session.

I never cease to be amazed at the hair splitting, defining and redefining, and especially the vehement denials something could have happened.

I suppose that shows that there are very many motives for being interested in CFNM, some so deep seated that the person having them can't imagine or accept the existence of others.

The positive side is that it will prove to be an almost inexhaustible topic but one likely to be shaken by angry disputes.

Okay, so a park bench flasher or some similar display by a man that completely disregards as irrelevant whatever the woman's reaction is, this pertains to CFNM?  Umm, okay -- if you say so.  But I kinda thought that what we're really after with CFNM is women's INTEREST in looking at naked men.  It seems to me that the essence of it is women's looks of interest, the indication that they're enjoying men visually.  In the article in question, there is absolutely no indication or suggestion that the woman came in their looking to get an eyeful and none that she liked what she saw when she did run into it.  And yes we can "speculate" and assume all we want, but that is something that goes on our own minds, our own fantasies, and is not based in the facts.  But then again, I guess a lot of men on here are interested in pure fantasies or they wouldn't be interested in fictional accounts.  Oh well.

I think the point is that this was a true account of a woman seeing a naked guy in a locker room.  On the one hand, we get people that perpetually bitch because they don't believe the veracity of stories posted.

Research articles and provide real news accounts presents a context of CFNM that is experienced in the real world.  I emphasize "real" her.

What gets me is that too few board regulars never search or post stories, nor do they post good photos or the like, they just bitch and don't contribute.

So, Superfluous found a real CFNM news artcle and posts it here.  It's just one of the many ways he's positively contributed to this board, and is one of the best regs.  So to those that have criticized him on this, I ask cut him some slack, or go find a better news article or the like.
